A former employee of the local government of Oton, Iloilo was arrested in a police anti-narcotics operation evening of Nov. 16, 2019.

Police identified the suspect as William Legislador, 43, amale, of C.M. Recto St., Barangay Poblacion West, Oton.

Members of Oton Police Station and the Regional Drug Enforcement Unit (RDEU) arrested the suspect after he sold a sachet of suspected shabu for P1,000.

Two more sachets of suspected shabu were seized from his possession.

Police Major Gervinson Moyo, Oton police chief, confirmed that the suspect used to work with the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO) but was allegedly terminated following reports of his illegal drugs involvement.

He was not on the Oton Police Station’s watchlist of illegal drugs personalities until recently.

The suspect denied that he was into the illegal drug trade but admitted that he was using illegal drugs “occasionally.”

He allegedly bought the illegal drugs from a contact in Delgado Street, City Proper, Iloilo City.

Legislador believed that his contact could have sourced his supply from Bacolod City.

The suspect is now detained and will be charged for violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).
