BACOLOD City – Six explosives were found separately in a construction site here and a rice field in Bago City, Negros Occidental this week.

In Bago City, the Army’s 303rd Infantry Brigade (IBde) disposed five explosives found by a local resident at Barangay Busay last Monday.

Police were first to recover a fragmentation hand grenade, a grenade rifle, a projectile grenade, and two fuse assemblies.

Police Major John Joel Batusbatusan, chief of Bago City Police Station, asked help from the Army for the disposal of the explosives.

Colonel Inocencio Pasaporte, 303rd IBde commander, said they appreciated the alertness of the barangay in calling the attention of authorities to the explosives.

“A little mishandling of this explosives can cause serious harm or injuries and even loss of lives of innocent civilians in the area,” Pasaporte added.

Meanwhile, a 60mm vintage mortar shell was also discovered by a construction worker at Barangay Singcang-Airport here last Tuesday.

Personnel of Police Station 8 responded and turned over the explosive to Mr. Demi Montoya, a bomb expert of the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), for disposal.
