Farmer accused of murder arrested

A farmer accused of killing two persons more than a year ago was arrested morning of March 10, 2022 in San Remigio, Antique.

Authorities nabbed Rodel Rufino, 41, at his home in Barangay Carawisan I, San Remigio.

Members of the San Remigio Municipal Police Station and the Antique Police Provincial Office-Provincial Intelligence Unit served to Rufino an arrest warrant for murder docketed as Criminal Case No 2022-02-10095.

Judge Ernesto Abijay Jr. of the Regional Trial Court Branch 12 in San Jose, Antique issued the arrest warrant on Feb. 23, 2022.

Rufino was not allowed to post bail.

Based on reports, the suspect and his cohorts allegedly conspired to hack and stab two persons evening of Jan. 24, 2021 at Barangay Carawisan I, San Remigio.

The incident claimed the lives of Nido Legaspi Jr., 44, and Christian Legaspi, 39.

Meanwhile, Brigadier General Flynn Dongbo, Western Visayas police chief, lauded the operating team of Antique Police Provincial Office for Rufino’s arrest.

Dongbo also vowed to hunt other wanted persons in the region.
