A 27-year-old farmer accused of murder and frustrated murder turned himself in to police morning of August 6, 2023 in Tapaz, Capiz.

Ariel Olog, a resident of Barangay Roxas, Tapaz, yielded to the Tapaz Municipal Police Station after almost three years in hiding.

The suspect was accompanied by a village official during his surrender.

Members of Tapaz PNP led by Major John Almarino served three arrest warrants against the suspect.

Almarino said all three cases happened in different instances.

Olog was accused of murder docketed under Criminal Case No. C-20-2125-10 issued by Judge Rommel Leonor of the Regional Trial Court 6 (RTC-6) Branch 21, Mambusao, Capiz on Oct. 9, 2020.

He is also a respondent to a frustrated murder case in CC No. C-18-1955-12 issued by Judge Judith D. Orendain-Tonogbanua of the RTC-6 Branch 20, Mambusao, Capiz on Dec. 19, 2018.

Another warrant of arrest for murder under CC No. C-18-1950-10 was issued by Orendain-Tonogbanua on Nov. 3, 2020.

No bail was set for the two murder cases while P24,000 was for the frustrated murder case.

Almarino said Olog went into hiding at a hinterland village in Tapaz in 2020.

The suspect was accused of killing Lornalee Gallenero, 54, a farmer in Barangay Agpalali, Tapaz on March 2020.

Gallenero was inside his nipa hut when the then 23-year-old Olog entered and shot the victim with a 12-gauge shotgun.

It was believed that the suspect was with seven other persons.

One of them hacked the victim several times.

Investigators claimed that Olog could have retaliated after his father was found dead with gunshot injuries. The latter’s body was found buried at Barangay Abangay, Tapaz a week before that.
