After hearing a pop in his right foot, Gilas elite shooting guard Matthew Wright immediately felt pain and difficulty in movement.

Good thing the injury isn’t that serious, as the 6 foot 4 gunner will only miss a week and will be available during the World Cup scheduled games for the PH.

With the World Cup squad now back in full strength with the addition of Fajardo, Pogoy, and Rosario, it’s Wright who will miss the last practices of the team this time.

“It’s not a tear, which is good, because that’s what I felt at first when I felt the pop. It’s just a strained ligament in the ankle. Both of them are intact, just rest.” Wright stated.

Wright will also miss the last two friendly games against an Australian team on August 23 and 25, which will be very crucial for head coach YengGuiao to determine his final 12 man-lineup for Gilas.

When asked about the level of pain he is experiencing in his foot, “I’m not going to lie, it is pretty painful.”
