Gary Espinar, a Canada-based Mixed Martial Arts fighter and the head coach of the Explosive MMA Academy, was arrested after a buy-bust operation.

Eight cans and 10 sachets of high-grade marijuana “kush” worth PHP2.8-million were collected by the Northern Police District Drug Enforcement Unit in a mall parking lot in Quezon City.

Espinar currently holds a 5-5 win-loss record in COMBAT FC and is already on a roll after winning his last fight in a first round submission over Vachayan Khamon.

The Filipino fighter is under COMBAT FC’s bantamweight division and is listed as one of the rising stars who can have a crack at the title in the future.

Espinar was pointed out by two other drug suspects as the main drug pusher of marijuana in their area. Espinar provided no comments after the authorities arrested him.

Seized together with the kush are Espinar’s two cellphones and his car that is present in the mall parking lot in Quezon City.
