A global technology support firm that is branching out in Iloilo City is bringing hope to Ilonggos affected by the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic by bringing in 1,200 jobs.
Asurion, a leading provider of device insurance, warranty and support services for cell phones, consumer electronics and home appliances, will be expanding its operations to Iloilo City.
The global firm has currently over 4,000 employees in the Philippines since they first made their presence in the country 2009.
Gareth Boulton, Asurion director of care operations in the Philippines said they personally visited Iloilo City last year as a potential site for the expansion of their company.
Boulton cited transportation, cleanliness, and the warmth of Ilonggos as the reasons why they chose to expand their company in the city.
“We met amazing people, the way people here communicate is beautiful. The site where we plan to build our infrastructure is very clean and neat. There is very good and easy transportation for our employees,” he said in a press conference on Wednesday.
The global firm will position its site at the 76,000-square-foot new office space at the Two Fintech Place of Megaworld’s Iloilo Business Park in Mandurriao district.
“We feel so blessed. The location is amazing for business and since there will be working in night time, we really need a safe and clean environment,” Boulton added.
Boulton said their company has started its recruitment while they target their launching by mid-January.
Meanwhile, Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas said he is grateful for the company for bringing in additional job opportunities for Ilonggos.
“I have always thought that the city government should always try to do its best to attract investments so that we can provide employment for our graduates,” he said. (ERS)
