BACOLOD City – Police are investigating the motive behind the death of a fisherman who was discovered with hack wounds beside a river in Zone 10, Barangay Bacuyangan, Hinoba-an, Negros Occidental last Monday.
The victim was identified as Jerry Del Carmen, 28, from the aforementioned village.
Police Major Ramel Bustamante, the town police chief, stated that a resident found the lifeless victim with injuries to the neck and head.
The resident informed the barangay captain, who subsequently reported the incident to the police.
Bustamante mentioned that the victim had resigned from his job as a crew member of a fishing vessel a few days before he was found dead.
He added that the victim had a murder case last year and was currently under probation.
He stated that they could not determine whether his death was connected to his previous case.
However, he mentioned that they already have persons of interest and are considering more than two suspects in the incident.
