BACOLOD City – Personnel of Moises Padilla Municipal Police Station in Negros Occidental are investigating the motive behind the killing of a force multiplier in Barangay Inolingan on Thursday night.

Killed was Rusty Sumer, 27, of the said village, according to Police Capt. Randy Babor, town police chief.

Babor said Sumer was driving a tricycle on his way home from his sugarcane plantation around 8:50 p.m. when an unidentified assailant shot him with a .45 caliber pistol.

Babor said it is possible that the perpetrator was already waiting for the victim to pass by the area then waylaid the latter.

Sumer suffered multiple gunshot wounds that caused his immediate death.

Police recovered from the scene four cartridges of .45 caliber ammunition.

Babor said the victim was a member of the Motorcycle Riders against Crime, based on his identification card.

Babor said they have yet to determine the motive, but they are looking into the possible link of his work as a member of the anti-crime unit.

“According sa barangay, wala man daw siya kaaway,” Babor said, adding that they are still checking the background of the victim.
