TWO Chinese and a Korean were collared after they were seen urinating on the beach front of Boracay Island.
Chinese nationals Zhang Zhi, 30, and Hao Yueran, 35, who are both billeted at Fairways and Blue Waters Resort, were caught 8:20 p.m. of Sept. 12, 2019.
Six beach guards of the Malay local government were roving the beach front when they saw the two violators urinating in front of Calypso Beach and Dove Resort at Station 3 in Barangay Manoc-Manoc
Zhi and Yueran were brought to the police station and were issued citation tickets for violation of Municipal Ordinance No. 311, Series of 2012 (An Ordinance Prohibiting Littering/Dumping/Throwing of Garbage, Thrash, Rubbish, Refuse, and Other Waste Materials and Prescribing Penalties for Certain Acts and Omissions Inimical to Cleanliness and Sanitation).
The following day, Korean national Sungjun Kim was also caught for the same violation in front of D’Mall Boracay.
Just like the two Chinese nationals, a citation ticket was also issued against him.
But it appeared that tourists’ violations are not limited to urinating on the white sand beach.
A tourist from Columbia was arrested for drinking liquor in the beach front.
Malay policemen arrested Sebastian Garcia as they were patrolling the area. He was given a citation ticket for violating Municipal Ordinance No. 319, Series of 2012 (carrying and drinking of liquor in the beach front).
On Sept. 8, a Chinese National was also arrested for allegedly assaulting a member of the Malay Auxiliary Police force.
Dennis Chong, 50, a businessman, was seen smoking a cigarette while at Bloomfield in Barangay Balabag, Boracay Island in Malay, Aklan.
This prompted Noly Cuatriz, 27, an auxiliary police, to warn the suspect for violating Malay town’s anti-smoking ordinance as contained in Municipal Ordinance 309 Series 2019.
He subsequently flicked his cigarette butt. However, it did not end up on the trash bin but purposely landed on Cuatriz’s face.
Other members of the Malay Auxillary Police immediately arrested the suspect.
Chong was charged for direct assault upon an agent of a person in authority.
Violations committed by foreign tourists were recently highlighted after a video of a female tourist went viral where she appeared to be washing her child who defecated on the beach.
She later buried the soiled diaper in the beach front.
In a report earlier this year, the Boracay Tourism Regulatory Enforcement Unit notes that Chinese nationals topped the most number of violations of local ordinances in the island.
From January to April 2019, Chinese nationals allegedly committed 739 infractions.
Tailing them are Korean nationals, locals (Filipinos), Russians, and Taiwanese.
