Eric Altamirano, probably the name everyone would think of if we talk about the man behind a blossoming 3×3 scene in the Philippines.

After a shocking exit with the Bounty Agro Ventures Inc. Chooks-to-Go 3×3 Pilipinas as League Commissioner, Altamirano is now headed to the biggest basketball league in the country, the PBA.

PBA 3×3 Chairman Richard Bachmann just announced that they will be tapping Altamirano’s services and will be appointed as the Tournament Director of the league.

“Basically for me it’s a no-brainer. He is experienced in running the 3×3, so it makes sense to hire somebody who has the experience. It’s a big advantage of us hiring him,” said Bachmann.

Joining Altamirano in the 3×3 committee of the PBA are Ronnie Magsanoc and Joey Guanio who were once Altamirano’s teammates during their prime collegiate years in the University of the Philippines.

“We are welcoming Altamirano as Tournament Director. I will be meeting him together with Ronnie and Joey by next week to discuss plans for 3-on-3,” added Bachmann.

The 12 regular PBA franchises are set to compete in the upcoming 3×3 league and an additional four to five teams will be gracing as visiting ball clubs.

Bachmann and the 3×3 committee initially planned a three-conference tournament format but is still on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
