Four collared over murder raps

Four persons accused of murder were arrested on March 23, 2021 in Barotac Nuevo, Iloilo.

The three suspects – Marvin Porras, Joel Pelayo, Tiji Arbor, and Ronel Buenavides – were collared by virtue of an arrest warrant in Criminal Case No. 219923.

Pelayo, 49, of Barangay Mina-a, Ibajay, Aklan, was collared around 10:50 a.m. of Tuesday at Barangay Ilaud Poblacion, Barotac Nuevo.

Police operatives from Barotac Nuevo Police Station led by Major Rowena Hubero, together with the Iloilo Police Provincial Office-Provincial Special Operations Group (IPPO-PSOG) and the PNP Regional Intelligence Division, carried out the arrest.

They later arrested the 22-year-old Porras at his home in Barangay Ilaud Poblacion Barotac Nuevo at around 11:30 a.m.

Meanwhile, Arbor, 24, was also arrested at his home in Ilaud Poblacion at 1 p.m.

At 2:30 p.m, Buenavides, 36, was arrested at his residence at Barangay Guintas, Barotac Nuevo.

Judge Domingo Casiple of the Regional Trial Court Branch 68, Dumangas, Iloilo issued the warrant of arrest against the four suspects on January 28, 2021.

No bail was recommended for their temporary liberty.

The four were accused of murdering Jerry Aguilar, 53, of Agcuyawan Calzada, Barotac Nuevo. His body was found on Dec. 13, 2016 with abrasions, bruises, and contusions.

It was believed that the four allegedly took turns in mauling the victim.

The suspects are now detained at the lock-up cell of Barotac Nuevo Police Station.
