Four motorcycle riders die in Iloilo road mishaps

Four motorcycle riders were killed in separate road incidents on Sunday in Iloilo province.

The fatalities were identified as Rodel Rodrigo, 40, of Barangay Cato-ogan, Pototan, Iloilo; Mark Angelo Jorge, 23, of P. Reyes St., Estancia, Iloilo; Regie Lobia, 23, of Poblacion Ilawod, Lambunao, Iloilo; and Freths Catedrilla, 19, of Barangay Capangyan, Lambunao, Iloilo

Police report said that Rodrigo and his back rider, 27-year-old Rowen Nudalo, came from Pototan town and were on their way to San Joaquin town when the incident happened 6 am at Barangay Nanga, Guimbal.

Witnesses said Rodrigo was running on high speed when it overshot the roadside gutter.

Rodrigo’s head hit a concrete utility post. He was rushed to the nearby hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

Nudalo, on the other hand, suffered minor injuries.

Meanwhile, Jorge figured in a road mishap after his motorcycle collided with an MG sedan around 3:15 p.m. along Barangay Aripdip, San Rafael town.

Police investigation showed that Romar Silva was driving his MG sedan from Iloilo City to Sara town when the incident happened.

Silva, 35, a government employee, of Barangay Rizal Estanzuela, City Proper, Iloilo City, was navigating a hilly curved portion along the area when he collided with Jorge’s Yamaha motorcycle.

Jorge was on his way to Barotac Viejo when the mishap happened. He was rushed to Gov. Niel D .Tupas Sr. District Hospital but did not pull through.

It was gathered that Silva’s camp is trying to reach an amicable settlement with Jorge’s family.

On the other hand, Lobia and Catedrilla both died after their motorcycle collided with each other 9:50 pm at Poblacion Ilawod, Lambunao.

Lobia’s back rider, Joel Garsaniba, 41, also a resident Poblacion Ilawod survived the incident.

He suffered injuries on the head, face, and mouth and was treated at Iloilo Provincial Hospital in Pototan town.
