GCash, the Philippines’ largest financial super app, continues to make strides in supporting Filipino entrepreneurs, especially those from micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), with accessible financial tools that enable growth and stability.
With a mission to empower underserved and unserved sectors, GCash offers innovative digital financial services that help entrepreneurs thrive daily, save for the future, and prepare for unexpected challenges.
Entrepreneurs like Roberto “JR” Halili Jr., owner of the coffee and milk tea shop Koppi Latea in Quezon City, credit GCash with helping their businesses survive and grow.
“Pangarap lang namin noon maging successful sa buhay. Di namin ine-expect na ganito mangyayari sa’min,” said JR, who started his business after leaving school to support his family.
He explained how GCash became essential in day-to-day operations, particularly for transactions with suppliers without physical stores.
“Sobrang laking tulong sa amin ni GCash… bank transaction at GCash transfers ang gamit ko,” he shared.
Despite the challenges brought by the pandemic, JR said that using GCash allowed him to save, invest, and even purchase properties, securing a better future for his family.
Similarly, online furniture store owner Maila Concepcion turned to GLoan, GCash’s fast loan solution, when she needed funds to purchase textiles for her expanding business.
“Nag-loan ako [sa GLoan] ng maliit—pero yung maliit na ‘yun, ayun yung naging start,” said Maila, who transformed her furniture reselling platform into a manufacturing business, ultimately purchasing two cars from her earnings.
GCash’s lending services like GLoan, GCredit, and GGives have been pivotal for entrepreneurs who may lack access to traditional banking loans. GLoan, in particular, offers quick, collateral-free loans directly through the app.
“At GCash, trust is collateral,” said Tony Isidro, president and CEO of Fuse, GCash’s lending arm. “We are committed to empowering every Filipino with access to fair loans—helping them avoid informal or predatory lending.”
As of the second quarter of 2024, GCash has disbursed PHP 155 billion in loans, benefiting over 5.4 million Filipinos.
The platform’s ongoing mission of financial inclusion aligns with the goals set by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) and the United Nations to foster a more equitable financial landscape.
GCash President and CEO Martha Sazon emphasized the company’s dedication to this vision: “Encouraged by the vision set by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas and the United Nations towards digital financial inclusion, we will keep innovating to help Filipinos thrive every day, be ready for a rainy day, and prepare for one day.”
GCash plans to expand its GCash for Business program in the coming months, offering more digital tools and capabilities specifically designed for businesses and merchants, further reinforcing its role as a trusted partner for Filipino entrepreneurs.
