The Guimaras Provincial Statistical Office (PSO) was once again recognized as one of the Philippine Statistics Authority’s (PSA) awardees nationwide on Best in Information Dissemination by placing 4th amongst 81 provinces in the country.
“This year’s PSA Awards was held on September 12, 2023, at Quezon City, Manila, wherein this is the 4th year that PSA Guimaras was one of the awardees because of the hard work and dedication of the Guimaras team and with the help of our media partners too,” said Provincial Statistics Officer Nelida Losare.
“We ranked 6th in 2018, 5th in 2019, and bounced to 2nd place in 2020 and 2021, and 4th in 2022, and still we are positively looking forward to sustaining or even surpassing it by courageously facing the challenging and demanding years,” Losare added.
The top place went to Laguna Province, while Nueva Viscaya ranked 2nd, Quezon placed 3rd, and Oriental Mindoro got 5th place.
For the Regional Best in Information Dissemination, Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), Ilocos Region, Bicol Region, Davao Region, and Eastern Visayas placed 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th, respectively.
The efforts of compiling data for the Provincial Products Account (PPA) were also rewarded wherein the PSA Guimaras received a certificate of recognition for having successfully accomplished the activities of the PPA, as one of the pilot provinces in 2022. This efficiently promoted and represented the functions of PSA at the subnational level in the development of national accounts.

Losare said the PSA Awards also aimed at increasing PSA visibility not only among subnational and local government agencies but also in the private sectors.
The PSA Awards focus on the efficiency, innovativeness, creativity, and productivity of the field offices.
“It is dynamic wherein its criteria, weights, and documentation requirements are revised from time to time depending on the priorities of the office and improvements in monitoring,” Losare said.
The PSA has 17 Regional Offices and 81 Provincial Statistical Offices in the country, including those in the National Capital Region, and due to its unwavering commitment to enhance the products and services, PSA-Guimaras is one of those Provincial Offices that ensures to deliver a relevant and reliable statistics and civil registration services and greatly appreciate all its partners and stakeholders for the continued support and assistance to all undertakings of PSA.
