Guimaras youth entrepreneurs graduate from YEP Program

The Youth Entrepreneurship Program completers, together with panelists from the DA R6, DTI, KMME Mentee, GBMPC, and Catalino G. Nava Farm School, as well as NC Business Counselors, celebrated their graduation on June 22, 2024.

The Youth Entrepreneurship Program (YEP) celebrated the graduation of 28 aspiring young entrepreneurs on June 22, 2024. The event marked the conclusion of a comprehensive training initiative aimed at fostering entrepreneurial skills among local youth.

The program, adapted from the Department of Trade and Industry’s (DTI) “YEP! You Can Be Your Own Boss” training approach, was spearheaded by the Guimaras Brethren Multi-Purpose Cooperative in collaboration with the Catalino G. Nava Farm School and DTI Guimaras.

It aimed to equip participants with essential entrepreneurial skills through a series of modules conducted over several months.

Participants presented their innovative business ideas to a panel of experts, receiving valuable feedback and guidance.

The panel included representatives from the Department of Agriculture (DA), DTI, and various cooperative sectors.

“We hope we’ve opened your minds to business opportunities,” said Almer Tabugo, BOD Vice Chairman of Guimaras Brethren Multi-Purpose Cooperative, in his welcome remarks.

His sentiments were echoed by Mr. James Daniel Gregori from the DA, who encouraged participants to refine their proposals and assured continued support for aspiring young entrepreneurs.

The YEP initiative consisted of four comprehensive modules designed to develop and refine participants’ business concepts.

DTI Guimaras Business Counselors served as trainers and mentors, providing crucial insights and support throughout the process.

“The culmination of the YEP program is a significant milestone in the entrepreneurial journey of these young individuals,” said a DTI Guimaras representative. “Their dedication and innovative ideas are a testament to the potential for economic growth and innovation in Guimaras.”
