BACOLOD City – A 17-year-old boy surrendered to the police last Friday after he allegedly punched to death an 18-year-old high school student in Barangay Payao, Binalbagan, Negros Occidental last week.

Police Major Randy Babor, town police chief, withheld the names of the suspect and the victim.

Babor said the suspect and the victim had an alleged misunderstanding before the incident.

When the suspect chanced upon the victim, the former allegedly attacked the latter by punching him, Babor said.

The victim fell to the ground and hit his head on the pavement, according to the police.

The victim was taken to Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital, where he later passed away, according to Babor.

Babor said the suspect was turned over to the custody of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
