Hope dims for un-rehired gov’t hospital workers

BACOLOD City – Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose on Monday said he does not want to give false hopes to government hospital workers whose contracts were not renewed by the provincial government.

Lacson issued the statement after Vice Governor Jeffrey Ferrer gave him a rating of 9 out of 10 for the governor’s first 100 days in office.

Ferrer said he could have given Lacson a perfect 10 if not for the un-rehired government hospital workers who sought the vice governor’s help.

Lacson said he is happy with the score even as he thanked the Sangguniang Panlalawigan for supporting his administration.

When asked if there is still a chance for the un-rehired hospital workers to renew their employment contract, Lacson said “I don’t want any more to raise their expectation so basically this is it already.”

“Let us put it this way, some employees lost their job but there are also new hires. Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate everybody,” he added.
