Three more patients from the region have recovered from coronavirus disease (COVID-19), the Department of Health-Center for Health Development in Western Visayas (DOH-CHD 6) reported on Friday.
According to Dr. Renilyn Reyes, DOH-CHD 6 spokesperson, the three new recoveries are from Iloilo City and the province of Aklan.
“We have recorded three more additional recoveries in the region. Two of these recoveries are from Aklan while one is from Iloilo City,” Reyes said in an online briefing on Friday.
The survivors are WV Patient No. 24, a 66 -year-old female from Kalibo, Aklan; and WV Patient No. 32, a 40-year-old male from Kalibo, Aklan.
In Iloilo City, Reyes said a 44-year-old male from Jaro district (WV Patient No. 17) also recovered from COVID-19.
In a bulletin issued on Friday, Reyes said five patients in the region were negative in their repeat-tests.
Four of the patients are from Lambunao, Iloilo (WV Patient No. 27, WV Patient No. 28, WV Patient No. 29, and WV Patient No. 30) while the other patient is from Capiz (WV Patient No. 37).
But Reyes said that the patient cannot be declared as recoveries unless there is clinical resolution of signs and symptoms.
“Based sa aton protocol, although negative na sila sa repeat, dapat may ma-assess anay sa ila if there is a clinical resolution of signs and symptoms. Dapat madula iya hilanat for three days or more, may improvement sa iya respiratory symptoms and improvements on the chest x-ray,” she said.
As of Friday, 14 of the 58 confirmed cases in the Western Visayas have already recovered from COVID-19.
Aklan recorded the highest number of recoveries at four, followed by Iloilo province (3), Bacolod City, Iloilo City and Capiz with two recoveries each; and Negros Occidental with one recovery.
