The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) Iloilo City projects around 330,000 to 340,000 registered voters by the end of the voter registration period on Monday, September 30.

“As of June, the city has recorded 319,294 registered voters. We are anticipating an increase of approximately 25,000 new registrants from July to September,” said Jonathan Sayno, COMELEC Iloilo City Assistant Officer II.

Sayno noted that the city previously had 330,470 registered voters, but this number decreased by about 29,000 due to the deactivation of some voter registrations.

“For now, we cannot determine how many more individuals need to register. However, compared to previous periods, our daily registration numbers have declined since we already visited each barangay,” Sayno said.

With the ongoing registration efforts, COMELEC encourages residents to ensure they are registered to participate in the upcoming elections.

The filing of candidacies will begin immediately after the voter registration period concludes.
