The Iloilo City Local Economic Enterprise Office (LEEO) reported a total revenue collection of P8.1 million from January to May, surpassing its target income of P6.7 million by P1.4 million.

The top three revenue generators were the City Slaughterhouse in Barangay Tacas, Jaro, collecting P3.4 million—P1.7 million above its P1.6 million target.

The Iloilo Terminal Market followed with a collection of P1.4 million, exceeding its target of P1.1 million by P286,000.

Meanwhile, the Iloilo Central Market collected P629,000, slightly below its target of P668,000.

Mayor Jerry Treñas commended city government employees for their effective management, despite ongoing construction at the district markets.

LEEO head Maricel Mabaquiao attributed the strong performance to the dedication of market in-charges and collectors in achieving their monthly targets for rentals, goods entrance, and other fees.

The LEEO oversees major public markets, including Central and Terminal (Super) in City Proper, Jaro Big and Small, Arevalo, La Paz, Mandurriao, and the Slaughterhouse.

With ongoing rehabilitation projects, the markets are expected to thrive, featuring improved parking spaces and cleaner facilities, better supporting micro and small businesses and promoting the area’s economic and tourism potential.

Temporary stalls have been set up to ensure the continuity of economic activities during the rehabilitation process.
