Ilonggos can now avail of free dialysis following the inauguration and blessing of the first Uswag Dialysis Center in East Baluarte, Molo on Monday, December 20, 2021.
Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas together with DOH Western Visayas Center for Health Development (WV CHD) assistant director Dr. Helen Tobias, lone district Rep. Julienne “Jam-Jam” Baronda and other city officials led the inauguration and blessing of Uswag Dialysis Center I.
The dialysis center will offer free dialysis to indigents in the metro defraying them of P4,000 worth of expenses per session. Currently, the center has three dialysis machines ready to cater the Ilonggo patients.
According to the mayor, it has been his dream to provide Ilonggos with free dialysis treatment as he is a witness to many Ilonggos who are suffering from the disease and are constantly appealing for help from the city government.
“Kadamo sa ila pirme nagakadto sa opisina kag nagapangayo sang bulig. Bangod tam-an ka mahal sang bayad per session ang nagakatabo ginabuhinan nila ila session kag kon makadto sa opisina nagapalang-itom na sila. That is why, we are really happy that finally may ara na kita free dialysis for our Ilonggos,” he said in his message.
Despite the challenges of searching for funds, the mayor said that he is happy that the city government made the project possible with the help of the health department.
“It was a challenge finding funds to accomplish this, but eventually, we were able to use funds of the city which came from our taxpayers because our requests for help were not provided. From the bottom of my heart, thank you so much to all our Ilonggos. This are all our accomplishments,” he added.
Aside from the dialysis center in Molo, a bigger dialysis center is also currently being constructed in San Isidro, Jaro. The much bigger dialysis center will have 14 dialysis stations which can cater to 14 patients at a time.
Meanwhile, Gary Patnubay punong barangay of East Baluarte Molo expressed his gratitude to the city government for the establishment of the Uswag Dialysis Center in their barangay.
“Kami gid gapasalamat kay fully operational na ang aton nga dialysis center diri sa East Baluarte, Molo. Dako gid ang bulig sini sa mga pigado naton nga mga pumuluyo,” he said. (DG)
