Iloilo farmer dies after accidental electrocution

CABATUAN, ILOILO — A farmer from Barangay Tigbauan Road, Cabatuan, Iloilo, died after he was allegedly electrocuted on the morning of August 26.

Reports identified the victim as Leopoldo, who was on his way to his farm when the incident occurred.

He was reportedly carrying a knapsack sprayer on his back when he accidentally came into contact with a live wire connected to the house of a resident known as Sonny.

According to the police, no one witnessed the incident. Rexie, a 22-year-old resident of the same village, discovered Leopoldo’s body with the live wire around his neck at approximately 9:30 a.m.

Leopoldo was rushed to Ramon Tabiana Memorial District Hospital but was declared dead at around 11:01 a.m.

Captain Dionisio Estacio, chief of Cabatuan police, stated that they are still investigating whether Sonny could be held liable for the incident.
