Ilonggo Animation Festival

In cooperation with the Iloilo City Government and the Animation Council of the Philippines (ACPI), it is an honor to and privilege to launch the Ilonggo Mini Anifest and invite you to be our partner in observing the event here in Iloilo City on July 6, from 9AM to 6PM, at SM City Iloilo.

National speakers and Ilonggo animators take the stage to share their knowledge and expertise of the industry.

This event raises awareness for our cause of showcasing Ilonggo talents. This event wouldn’t be possible without the support of local companies who offers valuable products and services so that we can support participants and speakers during the event.

The event starts from 9AM to 6PM where different activities and sessions take place simultaneously. The mini anifest will bring lectures, demos, contest, and film screening.

The event will begin with opening commentaries about the Ilonggo Animation Scene by event organizer, Glory Moralidad.

“The Ilonggo animation scene has always been underground, but has been existing for many years now,” she started. She relayed how ACPI worked with TESDA in Iloilo to bring animation training for Ilonggo artists in 2007. “The next year, they landed as finalists in Animahenasyon Ph: Philippine Animation Festival,” she added. The Iloilo Science and Technology University also offered animation training within those years. In 2013, Animahenasyon held its festival in Iloilo at West Visayas State University. Afterward, the first Ilonggo Animation was released in the University of Iloilo.

Various schools now offer animation classes like Central Philippine University, University of the Philippines, University of San Austin, Iloilo National High School, and Ateneo de Iloilo among many others.

“What we need now is a platform or channel where we can share these Ilonggo animation works to our very own kasimanwas,” Moralidad said.

Moralidad is no stranger to animation herself as she won Animahenasyon design in 2013 and was recognized in 2015 for her animated works. Since 2015, she aired her short animated films in Singapore and landed as finalist for the Asia TV Forum in 2017.

This event was organized by RRH Digital Creatives and wouldn’t be possible without the help of the Iloilo City Government, Office of Councilor Jay Treñas, Office of Councilor Baronda, Animation Council of the Philippines, SM City Iloilo, Department of Tourism VI, Yakult Panay, Rocketsheep Studios, Mulave Studios, The Daily Guardian, and DYLL Radyo Pilipinas Iloilo.
