SILAY City, Negros Occ. – Incoming Bacolod City Mayor Alfredo “Albee” Benitez told reporters Saturday that he will review the performance of the city police chief here amid the recent spate of killings in the city.

Benitez divulged this in an ambush interview before the inauguration and state of the district address of his younger brother, re-elected 3rd district Rep. Francisco “Kiko” Benitez held at the Magikland Events Center.

When asked by reporters if he will change the leadership of the Bacolod City Police, Benitez said, “We will see.”

He said everyone will be under review adding that the police chief should be efficient in solving the peace and order problem in the city.

The BCPO has recorded seven shooting incidents here in the month of June, the latest was Friday night.

Benitez also said that he will also dissolve the Emergency Operations Center created at the height of the pandemic.

“I think it (EOC) is not necessary anymore,” he said, adding that he will delegate the COVID-19 pandemic management to the City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Center.
