IT IS THE BANEBLAAAAAADE!!!

By Titus Villanueva

A moving fortress, the eleven barrels of doom, Imperial Guard cheese. These are the names given to one of the Imperium’s most impressive weapons. Capable of taking out a heavy tank in a single turn (if the dice are kind) or even facing an Imperial Knight, this behemoth of steel is often the first target in a game. For many people, that’s precisely why they bring one. While everyone’s busy shooting at the giant tank, their other units are hard at work dismantling the opponent’s key units and positions. At least that’s how I use it.

After all, this particular baneblade, unlike many others, is not an Imperial Guard unit. It has been salvaged by The Cult of the Golden King. The old machine’s wear and tear show through bullet holes and scraped paint. Miles of travel mark the dirt on its skirt and soot from its vents. Words of hate are sprawled out on its sides to indicate that this tank no longer protects those with love for the long-dead Emperor on his throne of tyranny. Symbols of the cult have been attached to proudly represent the resistance.

This is just one way a little creativity can be used to make something truly unique. Other Genestealer Cult players have gone as far as turning their own baneblades organic, more like a monster than a machine. I did it this way because it fit my theme of a group of ragtag rebels who band together to free their society from tyranny.
