Japan’s pride Kei Nishikori is withdrawing from all the tournaments he is slated to join after testing positive for COVID-19.
The world no. 34 tennis superstar was set to join the Flushing Meadows tournament and other tuneups but immediately announced he was pulling out from all tourneys following the result.
“I am feeling well and have very little symptoms but will obviously be in complete isolation for the safety of everyone,” Nishikori said.
Aside from the Flushing Meadows competition, Nishikori will also be withdrawing from the Western and Southern Open that will be held in Cincinnati.
Currently, Nishikori is located in Florida where he is under training and conditioning with the grand-slam tournaments fast approaching.
The former world no. 4 said that there is a high chance that he will be participating in the 2020 French Open if he successfully completes his quarantine and tests negative of the virus.
