BACOLOD City – The Provincial Government of Negros Occidental distributed recently P5.7 million worth of Survival and Recovery Loan Assistance to 570 farmer-recipients of Kabankalan City.

It is a loan assistance project that aims to finance the emergency and production capital requirements of marginalized, small farmers and fisherfolk whose production income were affected by Typhoon Odette, thereby, helping them regain capacity to continue their agricultural activities and contribute to sustained food production.

It is being implemented through the Dept. of Agriculture’s Agricultural Credit Policy Council (ACPC) Survival and Recovery (SURE) Loan.

Gov. Bong Lacson, together with 6th District Board Member Jeffrey Tubola, Kabankalan City Mayor Benjie Miranda, and Provincial Agriculturist Dr. Edmundo Raul Causing led the ceremonial turnover of the loan assistance, held at Kabankalan City Demo Farm.

The eligible borrowers are marginalized, small farmers and fisherfolks listed in the Typhoon Odette Damage Report submitted by the LGU.

The beneficiaries were enrolled in the Registry System for Basic Sector in Agriculture to avail of a non-collateralized loan of P10,000 per household at a zero percent interest rate payable in three years.
