A PUBLIC elementary school teacher was arrested after she allegedly sold a sachet of shabu during a police anti-narcotics operation evening of July 17, 2019.

Jonaseth Aguirre, 45, a Grade 2 teacher at A. Mirasol Memorial School in Bagangay Q. Abeto, Mandurriao, Iloilo City, was collared at her home in Barangay Sta. Cruz, Arevalo district.

Members of the Iloilo City Police Station 5 and the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) nabbed Aguirre after allegedly selling a sachet of suspected shabu for P5,000.

Police Major Marlon Valencia, ICPS5 chief, said 10 more sachets of shabu were seized from Aguirre’s possession.

The teacher initially told the confidential agent that they would trade at Barangay Calajunan, Mandurriao. But she later told them that she had no “item” with her.

Aguirre then led the two to her home where she gave them a sachet of shabu.

Valencia said that the sachets of suspected shabu seized at her possession was valued at P30,000.

Meanwhile, Valencia said Aguirre was considered a newly-identified drug personality.

Her name surfaced after the arrest of some drug pushers whose mobile phone had her number.

“We made a validation and we learned that she is the live-in partner of alias Love-Love Animas,” Valencia said.

Animas and Jerson Galan, a utility worker of the Regional Trial Court (RTC) in Iloilo City, were arrested in a buy bust operation on March 7, 2019 at Barangay Sta. Cruz, Arevalo.

CDEU members also arrested the duo for possessing two sachets of shabu worth P40,000.

As this developed, reports indicated that Aguirre tested positive for illegal drugs use.

But Valencia declined to confirm it pending the submission of an official report from the PNP Regional Crime Laboratory.
