Lineman killed while restoring power in Negros Oriental

BACOLOD City – A lineman who was working to restore power supply in Tanjay City, Negros Oriental died after he was electrocuted on Dec 25, 2021.

The fatality was identified as Ronald Gallarde, 31.

According to the Negros Oriental Electric Cooperative II (Noreco II), Gallarde was

part of the clearing and restoration team that was working on Christmas Day.

Despite the holiday, Gallarde was working to provide electricity to Lomboy in Barangay Tugas, Tanjay City after the damage brought by Super Typhoon Odette in the province more than a week ago.

“Despite it being Christmas day, the teams were working hard to hasten power restoration in the coverage area,” Noreco said in a statement.

Gallarde is survived by his wife and three children.

“We are deeply saddened by the death of our warrior of light,” the power distributor said.
