Love Negros remains mum on PCL bet

BACOLOD City – Former Negros Occidental third district congressman Alfredo Benitez believes Silay City Councilor Ryan Gamboa is capable of becoming a provincial board member representing the Philippine Councilors League (PCL)-Negros Occidental chapter.

Gamboa, a member of Benitez’ local party Love Negros and a former ABS-CBN Bacolod news anchor, is being pitted against Sagay City Councilor Arturo Marañon of the United Negros Alliance (UNegA) for the PCL presidency.

But Benitez, head of Love Negros Team, remains mum when asked if they will field Gamboa.

Aside from Gamboa, the names of Councilors Ralph Alvarez of Sipalay City and Miguel Zayco of Kabankalan were also being floated as possible candidates on behalf of Love Negros.

But Alvarez already declined to run while Zayco does not want a conflict against Marañon.

Gamboa, on the other hand, confirmed that he was being considered by Love Negros Team to run for the PCL presidency in September 2019 saying that “the party has yet to finalize everything.”
