Man assaults cop, village chief

BACOLOD City – A man was arrested after allegedly assaulting a police officer and a barangay official at Barangay Himoga-an, Sagay City, Negros Occidental on July 13, 2019.

Police identified the suspect as Alfredo Tenerife, 40, of the said village.

Investigation showed that Police Staff Sergeant Reynaldo Clarion of the 3rd Platoon of Negros Occidental Provincial Mobile Force Company, and village chief John Bersolto were about to respond to an incident in the area around 9 p.m. when they were allegedly attacked by Tenerife who was armed with bolos in both hands.

Fortunately, the policeman and the village chief were able to subdue the suspect and grabbed the bolos from his possession.

Aside from the bolos’, they also seized two kitchen knives from Tenerife.

The suspect was very arrogant, unruly, and disobedient, which triggered bystanders to allegedly maul him, police records showed.

Tenerife suffered injuries and was brought to a clinic. He is now in police custody.
