Man stabbed dead by fish vendor

ROXAS CITY, Capiz – A 40-year-old man was allegedly stabbed to death by a fellow fish vendor Sunday night on Washington St., Barangay 7 here.

Mario Concepcion of New Road, Barangay Banica died while being treated in a hospital here.

Investigation by the Roxas City police indicated that Concepcion was walking on Washington street when the suspect identified as Jonito Cañas of Barangay Tiza blocked his path.

The suspect then drew a knife and stabbed the victim.

It was learned that Cañas was driving a motor tricycle loaded with assorted fishes when the incident happened. He fled onboard the bike after attacking the victim.

Cañas was arrested Monday afternoon in a hot pursuit operation by the police.

Meanwhile, a 17-year-old boy was hospitalized after he was stabbed while eating Sunday evening at Barangay Bailan, Pontevedra, Capiz.

The Pontevedra PNP said the boy from Barangay Malag-it, Pontevedra was having soup in front of the Bailan District Hospital when a heated argument ensued between him and another group of boys.

A commotion occurred and the unidentified suspect drew a knife and stabbed the victim in the left portion of his body.

The suspect hurriedly left while the victim was taken to the hospital.
