BACOLOD City – An alleged robber was arrested after he allegedly victimized a senior citizen in Barangay III-Poblacion, E.B. Magalona, Negros Occidental last Saturday.

Police identified the suspect as Jan Niño Dumdumaya, 22, of the said village, who was wounded after he was mobbed by some bystanders and residents.

Captain Eric Doronilla, town police chief, said the suspect allegedly waylaid a 67-year-old man and carted away his cash amounting to P10,000.

Doronilla said the incident was witnessed by a resident which led to a commotion after he allegedly punched Dumdumaya. But the suspect ran until a brief chase followed.

Doronilla said that some bystanders and other residents also helped the police chase the suspect until he was mobbed, causing him minor injuries.

Police recovered from the suspect two sachets of suspected shabu worth P6,120 and an improvised tooter.

Doronilla said Dumdumaya is a newly identified drug suspect who has a pending case for physical injury.

Doronilla said that based on reports and information, the suspect was also allegedly involved in robbery incidents in the town, but such is subject for verification. “Gapanaka-naka siya kuno balay pero ang mga biktima wala man gaparecord,” he added.

Doronilla said they will also check the background of Dumdumaya if he has other criminal records.

Police are probing if the source of the contraband may be from Bacolod City or the neighboring city of Silay.

“May gadagdag na da sa iya pero wala pa gid natumod ang source,” the police chief added.

Doronilla said that robbery and illegal possession of dangerous drugs will be filed against the suspect.
