Filipino boxing star Mark Magsayo is ready for his highly-anticipated return after the World Boxing Council (WBC) ordered him to square off against Eduardo Hernandez of Mexico in a super featherweight elimination bout.

According to multiple sources, the WBC already sent a letter to Matchroom Boxing and chairman Eddie Hearn, the eyed promotion company that will cater to the clash between the two promising boxing pugs.

Both camps will have until April 6, 2025, to decide and agree to the terms of the fight contract which will determine the next mandatory challenger for O’Shaquie Foster, the current title holder of the super featherweight division.

Since moving to a heavier weight class two years ago, Magsayo has been on a tear and swept all of his fights against Isaac Avelar, Eduardo Ramirez, and Bryan Mercado.

During his super featherweight debut against Avelar, Magsayo displayed a new brand of power after flooring the Mexican with just one punch in the third round.

As Magsayo sized him up at the ropes, the Filipino power-puncher timed a devastating sweeping left hook that put Avelar to sleep.

Seeing that the Mexican went unconscious after that single punch, the match referee was quick to waive off the fight and rewarded the win to Magsayo.

It was evident that Magsayo carried his power from featherweight and got enough credentials to become a potential opponent for the undefeated Gervonta “Tank” Davis.

However, the dream fight failed to materialize as Davis’ original opponent, Lamont Roach Jr., became available and didn’t withdraw from the fight.

Magsayo was a former featherweight champion after dethroning Gary Russell Jr. but quickly lost in his title defense against Rey Vargas.

After absorbing another loss at the hands of Brandon Figueroa, Magsayo’s camp, led by the Manny Pacquiao (MP) promotions, decided to move him to super featherweight.

Magsayo is still one of the top fighters in the division and currently holds a win-loss record of 27 wins, two defeats, and 18 knockouts.

On the other hand, Hernandez, a more experienced fighter than Magsayo who fought 37 times inside the ring, is seeking to extend his winning streak to four fights after bagging all of his past three matches.

Known as a lethal knockout artist who floored 32 victims, expect an action-packed fireworks exchange between him and Magsayo.

As of this writing, the specific fight date for the Magsayo-Hernandez is yet to be determined and will be announced in the upcoming weeks.
