MORE Power at 5: We Did It in 5, MORE in the Next 5

Five years ago, Iloilo City’s power landscape was dimmed by outdated infrastructure, frequent outages, and inefficiencies that hampered progress. That all changed when MORE Electric and Power Corporation (MORE Power) took over as the city’s electricity provider in 2020. In just half a decade, the company has turned the tide—modernizing the grid, enhancing reliability, and empowering communities with its steadfast commitment to progress.

Transforming Challenges into Milestones

MORE Power embarked on an ambitious mission to overhaul Iloilo’s  electric power distribution system, investing in cutting-edge substations, advanced metering systems, and modern transformers. These improvements drastically reduced system losses, curtailed power pilferage, and minimized outages, creating a more stable and efficient electricity supply.

With smart grid technology and proactive maintenance, the city now enjoys fewer disruptions, better voltage quality, and an overall improved energy experience, positioning Iloilo as a leader in power innovation in the region.

Safety first: A culture of protection

Beyond delivering power, MORE Power has also prioritized the safety of its employees and the community. The company recently marked an extraordinary milestone—2 million safe man-hours without a lost time incident, a testament to its rigorous safety protocols and dedication to workplace well-being.

Under the theme “2 Million Hours Strong: Safety at the Heart of Our Power,” MORE Power celebrated this achievement with a week-long series of events, including the First Aid Olympics, a Safety and Health Quiz Bee, and the recognition of outstanding safety champions. This milestone not only reflects the company’s commitment to excellence but also sets the bar higher for the entire industry.

Beyond electricity: A commitment to community

MORE Power’s impact extends far beyond powering homes and businesses—it fuels Iloilo’s progress by giving back to its people. This was evident in the recent KuryenTee Anniversary Golf Tournament, held on February 15, 2025, at the Iloilo Golf and Country Club.

More than just a sporting event, the tournament symbolized the company’s deep-rooted commitment to social responsibility. With 214 golfers from across the country participating, the event raised P4.6 million, benefiting 18 local foundations and non-government organizations. From the Philippine Red Cross to the Homeless Peoples Federation Philippines, these donations are helping uplift the lives of countless Ilonggos.

A powerful partnership on the horizon

MORE Power has also forged a dynamic partnership with the Iloilo City government that drives progress through sustainable energy, infrastructure upgrades, and community initiatives.

In August 2023, they took a major step toward renewable energy adoption by signing a tripartite agreement with the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) to establish a one-stop shop for renewable energy technologies. Their collaboration also extends to urban revitalization efforts, such as relocating overhead power lines along historic streets like Calle Real and Plaza Libertad to preserve the city’s heritage.

Beyond energy and infrastructure, MORE Power actively supports environmental initiatives, including cleanup drives, mangrove reforestation, and annual fingerling releases in the Iloilo River, reinforcing their shared commitment to sustainability and community welfare.

Charging into the future

MORE Power’s journey over the past five years has been one of transformation, resilience, and unwavering dedication to Iloilo’s progress. From modernizing the grid and prioritizing safety to strengthening community ties and forging strategic alliances, the company has illuminated a path toward a brighter future.

With bold plans on the horizon and a solid foundation in place, MORE Power isn’t just providing electricity—it’s powering dreams, empowering people, and shaping the future of Iloilo, one bright step at a time.
