A total of 119 couples exchanged “I dos” in the picturesque and iconic Guimbal steel bridge in the town of Guimbal in Iloilo province on Valentine’s Day, Feb 14, 2022.
The steel bridge was decorated with flowers, balloons, and heart-shaped designs to celebrate the love and unity of the more than 100 love birds.
According to Guimbal Vice Mayor Mary Ann Suyao-Lujan, this is the first time that a mass wedding was held in the historic Guimbal bridge.
“What a beautiful and memorable day kay first time dya in the history of Guimbal nga ang kasal ridya gid sa taytay. Tulad nga adlaw puno kang paghigugma kag kalipay kay nakita naton ang mga in-love nga couple,” she said in her welcome message.
Jerry Dulotan officer-in-charge of the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Iloilo province also congratulated the couples as he reminded them of the importance of pertinent legal documents.
He also urged the couples to process the legitimation of their children who were born out of wedlock.
Meanwhile, the civil mass wedding was officiated by Guimbal Mayor Jennifer Garin-Colada. (DG)
