Metro Pacific Iloilo Water (MPIW) announced a temporary adjustment to its water supply schedule from October 1 to 7 due to preventive maintenance activities by its bulk water supplier, FloWater Resources Inc.
Chief Operating Officer Angelo David Berba, speaking at a press conference on September 26, explained that the maintenance work is intended to optimize operations and improve water delivery efficiency.
The revised schedule will affect several areas in Iloilo, with daily and alternate supply times assigned to different zones:
Daily Supply Schedule (5:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.):
- Sta. Barbara
- Pavia East
- Portions of Pavia West
- Mandurriao West
- Leganes
- Jaro North
- Portions of Jaro South
Alternate Supply Schedule (5:00 p.m. – 2:00 a.m.):
Day 1: Mandurriao East, Mandurriao South, Molo, Arevalo, Iloilo City Proper
Day 2: Jaro South, La Paz, Lapuz
MPIW advised residents to store sufficient water ahead of the supply disruption and promised daily updates throughout the maintenance period.
To mitigate the impact, approximately 26 water tankers will be deployed across Iloilo City and nearby towns.
FloWater Resources will shut down its water treatment plant for essential repairs, reducing MPIW’s bulk water supply by nearly 40 percent. Berba noted that this reduction equates to a loss of 30 million liters of water per day.
Another supplier, Metro Iloilo Bulk Water (MIBW), will continue to supply between 45 to 50 million liters per day to support distribution during this period.
Additionally, MPIW will work with local government units and the fire bureau to expand its water tanker fleet and set up stationary water tanks in affected areas.
