Negros cops get PPEs, face masks

BACOLOD City – The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo) here received Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs), face shields, face masks, and alcohol from private donors this week.

Thirty sets of PPEs were given by Dr. Josephine Grace Rojo of Bayanihan Mission to Nocppo at the provincial police headquarters here yesterday.

Each set includes a coverall, a pair of shoe covers, a head cover and a face shield.

These will be given to the Provincial Health Team, which is the first responders in cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) infection among the Nocppo personnel.

Last Tuesday, Nocppo also received 150 face shields, 10 boxes of surgical face masks, and two containers of alcohol from Lucio Ma Barcelona Jr., president of Independent Sagay Escalante Planters Association Inc.

Barcelona lauded the untiring and dedicated service of Nocppo cops to the Negrenses.

“We will continue our support so that we can improve our response to the pandemic because it is the responsibility of the stakeholders to help the police,” he said.

Police Colonel Romy Palgue, Nocppo director, thanked the donors for the supplies they provided for the policemen.

Given the nature of the job of the police, there is a high risk of being exposed to the disease.

“We are very thankful for these much-needed supplies in this time of pandemic,” he said.

Palgue said this is a manifestation that truly Negrense C.A.R.E.S., Challenge, Admire, Respect, Encourage and Support each other, thus, “we can heal as one”.

Despite the threat of the virus, Nocppo continues to perform its mandate to provide public safety, anti-criminality, and peace and order services.
