Two Negrense cagers will bring their ace game in the national arena as they are set to play for Manila teams next month.

Kib Montalbo of Bacolod City signed up with Makati Super Crunch that will compete in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL).

With the next conference set to begin in June 2019, Montalbo said his inclusion in the team will develop his play and motivate him to improve his game.

According to Super Crunch head coach Pocholo Villanueva, Montalbo’s reinforcement gives youth and energy to the team.

“We were able to address our weaknesses from last season following the inclusion of new players this off-season. With the new lineup, I hope we can compete against best teams in the league,” Villanueva added.

Montalbo is a former St. John’s Institute standout who won two championships with De La Salle University. Aside from MPBL stint, he will also play for the Marinerong Pilipino Skippers in the PBA D-League.

Meanwhile, Silay City hotshot Miggy Corteza recently transferred from De La Salle University (DLSU) to the De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde (DLS-CSB), where he will play as guard.

Corteza, who formerly played for Bacolod Tay Tung High School (BTTHS), said he accepted the offer to have more playing time in the league.

“I was offered to stay with DLSU but my opportunity to play would be limited. With my new team, I know I will be exposed more and play well,” he shared.
