ROXAS CITY – A native of Cagayan Valley has been appointed to lead the Capiz Police Provincial Office (CPPO).

Colonel Albert Tapulao officially assumed his role as CPPO director during a change of command ceremony on September 17 at the CPPO headquarters in Camp Apil, Barangay Lanot, Roxas City.

Both Tapulao and his predecessor, Colonel Jerome Afuyog, are members of the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) Class of 1998.

Before his appointment as CPPO chief, Tapulao served as the regional chief of the PNP Finance Service. He has also held positions with the PNP Directorate for Intelligence and the PNP Intelligence Group at Camp Crame, Quezon City.

Additionally, he was the Provincial Mobile Force Commander in Misamis and the former chief of police in Calamba City, Laguna.

As the new CPPO commander, Tapulao said he would prioritize the physical wellness of his personnel.

CPPO data shows that around 10% of its officers have been diagnosed with hypertension.

“We need to ensure that they are physically fit so they can perform their duties well,” Tapulao said.

Regarding external matters, Tapulao stated that the police are already preparing for the upcoming elections.

“We will further refine our preparations after the filing of certificates of candidacy and the start of the election period,” he added.

In addition to election preparations, Tapulao emphasized that the CPPO would continue its anti-criminality efforts, particularly focusing on the fight against illegal drugs.

“We aim to enhance our systematic approach to law enforcement,” he noted.

Tapulao also mentioned that recruiting young officers to bolster the current police force would be beneficial.
