The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) announced a 12-hour power interruption in some parts of Iloilo City and Guimaras on Sunday, Aug 16, 2020.
The scheduled shutdown from 5:30 am to 5 pm will affect consumers of GUIMELCO (whole franchise area) and MORE Power’s 13.2kV distribution line in Brgy. Balabago, Jaro, Iloilo City.
NGCP said the scheduled interruption is due to the maintenance activities that they will implement on the Sta. Barbara-Ingore 69kV transmission line.
The areas to be affected by the maintenance will include MORE Power’s Lapaz Substation Feeder 2 that is going to affect Gegato Abecia in Balabago to 8th Street, Lawaan in Balantang, and the entire Metropolis Subdivision in Bitoon.
MORE Power announced that some barangays will have to be tied-up to the Jaro Substation Feeder 1 to isolate them from being affected by the interruption and lessen the areas to be affected by the brownout.
The power company said it will also take advantage of the scheduled interruption to fix unstable and damaged poles in the affected areas – 10 dilapidated poles at 8th Street in Lawaan, 5 dilapidated poles at Metropolis in Bitoon, 30 damaged cross arms along Bitoon to Balantang, as well as sagging lines in the said area.
