BACOLOD City – Police Colonel Romy Palgue, director of Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo) here reiterated his call to the provincial police force to be very cautious, as more personnel were infected by coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) recently.
Police Lieutenant Abegael Donasco, Nocppo’s deputy information officer, said that Nocppo has recorded six additional COVID cases last week, bringing the total to 21 active cases since March this year, affecting most of the personnel in various police stations in the province.
Of the six cases, two had mild symptoms while four others were asymptomatic, she added.
In fact, Donasco said that most infected personnel were reported at Toboso Municipal Police Station, with nine active cases.
Earlier, Mayor Richard Jaojoco has requested augmentation personnel from Nocppo, following the said COVID situation among the municipal police force.
But, Donasco said that there’s no need for augmentation, according to Palgue, since the manpower is still sufficient.
With the recent development, Donasco said that performance of police stations with infected personnel will not be affected because the situation is still manageable.
Donasco said that Palgue reminded cops to continue following the health protocols while doing their jobs as frontliners in this pandemic.
