BACOLOD City – Police are probing the motive behind the killing of a satellite TV installer at the boundary of Barangays Ilaya and Calampisawan in Calatrava, Negros Occidental last Sunday.

Killed was Elmer Cueva, 45, of Escalante City. Wounded in the incident was Jerald Bulanon, 35, of Escalante City, an electronic technician.

Police Major Lumyaen Lidawan, Calatrava town police chief, said the victims were on their way to a client on board a motorcycle when two unidentified persons on another motorcycle allegedly tailed them.

The perpetrators then shot the victims but Bulanon managed to evade the bullets.

Lidawan said Cueva may have been the target of the shooting, as he suffered serious injuries that resulted in his death.

Bulanon suffered a gunshot wound in the hand but was already discharged from the hospital.

Lidawan said that a possible .38 caliber or .357 caliber firearm was used by the suspects since no fired bullets were recovered from the scene.

Police said they are checking the background of the victims to possibly help them in the investigation to determine the motive.

Lidawan said that Bulanon told the police that they do not have enemies.

He said the shooting happened far from the houses, thus there are no witnesses.
