BACOLOD CITY – The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office has deployed 1,035 security personnel to ensure peace and order during the Panaad sa Negros Festival from March 24 to 30.

Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson and Police Col. Rainerio De Chavez, Nocppo director, led the send-off ceremony at the Panaad Park and Stadium on Saturday.

Police Capt. Judesses Catalogo, Nocppo public information officer, said the deployed personnel include those from the provincial headquarters, Bacolod City Police Office, Highway Patrol Group, Philippine Coast Guard, Bureau of Fire Protection, and the medical unit.

Catalogo added that 200 emergency response personnel from various local government units are also part of the security detail.

Security deployment began Sunday, a day before the official opening of the festival, now on its 29th edition.

In his message, Lacson emphasized the importance of safety in preserving the festival’s integrity.

“We want all our festival-goers to not only feel secure but also to truly enjoy the festivities we have prepared,” he said.

He said the province expanded the lineup of activities to offer a vibrant and unforgettable experience.

“With concerts, engaging contests, and captivating local government unit pavilions, we expect a significant influx of visitors eager to join in the festivities,” he added.

Lacson highlighted the vital role of security forces in maintaining order, managing crowds, and preparing for emergencies.

He said ensuring public safety is essential to creating an environment where everyone can celebrate freely.

Lacson also recognized the challenges of their duties, especially in difficult weather, and thanked them for their dedication and sacrifice.

“May we all remain united in our purpose, and may we continue to be guided by our shared commitment to service and accountability,” Lacson said.

This year’s festival carries the theme “The Future Unfolds.”
