BACOLOD City – More than PHP700,000 worth of suspected shabu were seized during various anti-drug operations in three cities in Negros Occidental over the weekend, police records showed.

In Bacolod, operatives of the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) confiscated 13 sachets with an estimated value of PHP420,000 from Villanueva brothers Rogelio, 29, and Ricky, 48, in Barangay Alijis on Friday afternoon.

The buy-bust, conducted at about 3 p.m., led to the arrest of the two suspects, who sold PHP1,000 worth of shabu to an undercover policeman.

The siblings, included on the CDEU watch list, also yielded a .45-caliber pistol loaded with eight live ammunition, a home-made 12-gauge shotgun with three live ammunition, and a hand grenade.

Also on Friday, personnel of Police Station 4’s Drug Enforcement Team arrested high-value target Ramiro Montaño, 59, in a buy-bust in Purok Chereza 1, Barangay 27.

Operatives seized from the suspect four sachets of shabu weighing about 2.6 grams valued at PHP31,000.

About 11:10 p.m. on Thursday, suspect Christian Cerbo, 20, was arrested with his 16-year-old companion while in possession of two sachets of shabu worth PHP2,000 and an improvised tooter.

The two were rounded up by operatives of Police Station 7’s Drug Enforcement Team in Barangay Mansilingan.

In Silay, target list personality Jodel Cagas was arrested by CDEU operatives in a buy-bust in the vicinity of a shopping mall in Barangay Mambulac at about 8:15 p.m. on Thursday.

Cagas, 30, who sold a sachet of shabu worth PHP4,000 to a poseur-buyer, also yielded five more sachets weighing about 7 grams with a market value of PHP105,000.

At about 9 p.m. on the same day, Bacolod resident Edgar Pandes was found with at least 10 grams of shabu, estimated to be worth PHP150,000, when he was arrested by policemen for driving a motorcycle without a helmet at Sitio Estaca, Barangay Lantad.

Policemen also seized from Pandes a .45-caliber pistol with four live ammunition, six units of mobile phones, and cash amounting to PHP5,880, among others.

In San Carlos, high-value target Jose Mayo Silva was arrested in a buy-bust at about 8:45 p.m. along Locsin St., Barangay 6. Silva, 40, sold a sachet of shabu to a poseur-buyer for PHP500.

He also yielded six more sachets containing about 3 grams of shabu with an estimated value of PHP36,000. (PNA)
