More than PHP 35 million worth of illegal drugs were seized in a series of police operations in Western Visayas during the month of July.
Police Regional Office (PRO) 6 records showed that different units confiscated around 5,150 grams of shabu worth PHP 35 million and 1,000 grams of marijuana valued at PHP 120,000 in 211 operations. These efforts resulted in the arrest of 263 illegal drug peddlers.
The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO) topped the list with 107 arrests, followed by the Iloilo City Police Office with 42, Iloilo PPO with 34, Bacolod City Police Office with 25, Capiz PPO with 21, Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit (RPDEU) 6 with 18, Guimaras PPO with seven, and Aklan PPO with five.
While NOCPPO had the most arrests, RPDEU-6 seized the highest volume of drugs, confiscating approximately 1,605 grams of shabu worth an estimated PHP 10.9 million. Bacolod City Police Office recovered 1,140 grams of shabu valued at PHP 7.7 million.
Brigadier General Jack Wanky, Western Visayas police chief, commended the operatives and their unit commanders for their contributions to these accomplishments.
“Your effort in our campaign against illegal drugs is laudable. These accomplishments are a reflection of your commitment and patience,” he said.
Despite the achievements, the region’s top cop urged personnel to continue pursuing those involved in the illegal trade.
“It is our goal to cleanse our streets of the menace of illegal drugs,” he said.
