In response to the effects of Typhoon Kristine, Pag-IBIG Fund has announced its Calamity Loan program and a one-month housing loan payment moratorium to assist affected members.
Members residing or working in areas declared under a state of calamity—including regions IV-A, Ilocos, Cagayan Valley, V, VIII, and NCR—may apply for these financial relief options to address immediate recovery needs.
“Pag-IBIG Fund is here to support our Filipino workers facing financial difficulties caused by Typhoon Kristine,” said Secretary Jose Rizalino L. Acuzar, head of the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development and chairperson of the 11-member Pag-IBIG Fund Board of Trustees. “In line with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s call, we are dedicated to helping members in the hardest-hit areas recover from the typhoon’s impact.”
The Pag-IBIG Calamity Loan, part of the agency’s Short-Term Loan programs, provides financial relief for members in areas under a state of calamity. Eligible members can borrow up to 80% of their total Pag-IBIG Regular Savings, which includes personal and employer contributions, along with accumulated dividends. The loan carries a low annual interest rate of 5.95% and offers repayment terms of 24 or 36 months, with the first payment deferred for three months.
For members in areas not declared under a state of calamity but needing financial support, the Pag-IBIG Multi-Purpose Loan is available to assist in typhoon recovery efforts.
Under the one-month housing loan moratorium, payments on housing loans or installments are suspended for the approved period at no additional cost. Eligible members may apply for this moratorium until December 31, 2024, through Virtual Pag-IBIG or at any Pag-IBIG branch.
Pag-IBIG Fund CEO Marilene C. Acosta emphasized the agency’s readiness to assist affected members.
“We want to assure our members that we are proactive in helping them recover,” Acosta said. “Our immediate priority is to provide assistance in every way possible. Our Lingkod Pag-IBIG on Wheels (LPOW) will deploy in areas including Quezon City, Valenzuela, Malabon, Laguna, Batangas, and Bicol.”
Through LPOW, Pag-IBIG members can submit Calamity Loan applications, file for insurance claims if their mortgaged homes were damaged, and apply for housing loans for major repairs.
Members may also apply for Calamity Loans or Multi-Purpose Loans online via Virtual Pag-IBIG.
