Residents and farmers of Barangay Cadagmayan Norte and the neighboring upland communities in Sta. Barbara, Iloilo can now easily deliver their products from the farms to the market with the concreting of a local road undertaken by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

Implemented by DPWH’s Iloilo 4th District Engineering Office, the ₱9.8-million project includes the construction of a 2-lane Portland Concrete Cement Pavement (PCCP) road from Bangga Boling to Sitio Camp Site, with the length of 862.8 lineal meters.

Citing the report of District Engineer (DE) Mario G. Soriano, Regional Director (RD) Nerie D. Bueno explained that the paved road provides residents with easier and more comfortable access to social, health, economic and other government services.

“With this concrete road, government services can reach even the remote areas in this central part of Iloilo and people from the upland communities can easily access educational, social, and health facilities in the town and the neighboring Iloilo City,” RD Nerie D. Bueno said.

“Likewise, the improved road will help the local government unit (LGU) in reaching even the remote areas in order to provide necessary programs and services for the benefit of the people,” RD Bueno added.

Meanwhile, DE Mario G. Soriano said that the paved road traverses along rice fields and other agricultural lands, hence, its improvement will greatly benefit the people in the far-flung areas, especially rice & vegetable farmers, and animal raisers.

“With this concrete road, we are hopeful that our farmers can easily transport their products from farms to the market, which could eventually help alleviate their economic condition,” DE Soriano stressed.

DPWH continues to implement significant road projects that will connect rural communities to main thoroughfares for faster transportation and easy access to basic government services. (DPWH-6)
