The Pavia Police Station in Iloilo has expressed concerns over the growing number of transient residents in the area.
This apprehension came in the heels of anti-illegal drugs operations involving visitors or persons renting houses in subdivisions and villages in the municipality.
Police Major Jojo Tabaloc, Pavia police chief, said monitoring these transient residents has posed a challenge on their part.
“We’re still coming up with a system on how we could work with barangay officials in keeping track of boarders and tenants in subdivisions,” he said.
On Sunday, another anti-illegal drugs operation was conducted at Deca Homes Subdivision in Barangay Hibao-an.
The suspects were identified as Albert Ladrido Jr., 24, of Barangay San Carlos, Anilao, Iloilo; and Jomarie Obregon, 52, and Jeanella Mae Obregon, 21, both of Barangay Desamparados, Jaro, Iloilo City.
The trio was temporarily residing at Lot 20, Block 7, Deca Homes’ Phase 1.
Members of the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit 6 (RPDEU)-6 in coordination with Pavia Police Station and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-6 arrested the suspects after selling a sachet of suspected shabu for P1,500.
Recovered from their possession were five sachets of suspected shabu.
In the recent months, several buy bust operations were also conducted in Deca Homes.
Most of the suspects arrested are only renting in the area.
